Coaching news and U16 /18 Girls program
9 Mar 2022 by Melinda McVeigh
Good Evening all,
For those that were not in attendance tonight, we wish to advise that, due to personal reasons Craig Turton will stand down from his coaching role, effective immediately. We thank Craig for his service to the club, especially over the difficult period of the last two years.
We are most fortunate that Ross Vicino has stepped up as Coach and along with Jon Court as Assistant Coach we look forward to continuing on, building the team and getting to know each other.
Further to our meeting this evening – see below a brief outline of our current registration situation and rotation guides for those U16’s looking to try out for a spot in the U18.5 side.
Criteria:
ONLY 4 spots per week will be made available for U16 players for development opportunities.
If there are injuries in the 18’s squad then we could look at entertaining more – this is at the coaches discretion and his decision is final at ALL TIMES.
1.First priority will be given to girls who have partaken in the Jets program.
2.Rotation opportunities will be looked at weekly based on the coaches discretion
3.There is a minimum expectation of attendance at training – at least 1 night per week. (As expressed at the meeting – lets really work on improving our communication on Team app – I will start a News area, rather than chat as most have expressed the chats get lost.) Lets start thinking more like a team rather than different groups that make up a team, you are now the seniors and all the other teams will look up to you and you need to lead by example. So if your friends won’t be there on a training night – it doesn’t matter as your “team” is!
EVERY SESSION YOU ATTEND – YOU WILL IMPROVE!
Finally – If you don’t get selected to play in the 18.5 team – it is expected you will play in the 16’s Team. You will be registered in the U16’s and plan up whenever the opportunity arises. For those girls interested in playing in U18’s this year – you are welcome to train with the 18s for the next 2 weeks – as long as you understand you are there for opportunity only – but only 24 players will be selected heading into SUPER SUNDAY and the season opener.
If you wish to chat, have any questions or concerns you are most certainly encouraged to speak with the coaching cohort or myself – lets be sure to leave question time for coaches post training as they are busy setting up pre training.
Looking forward to seeing you all at training next week!
Ross, Jon and Mel
